INEOS Automotive rides high at 2023 Goodwood festival of speed with global debuts, zero emissions tech and special celebratory stunt.

London, 13 July 2023 – Stamping its mark on the first day of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, INEOS Automotive unveiled the all-new Grenadier Quartermaster, showcased the Grenadier Hydrogen Demonstrator, created excitement with a spectacular stunt and provided its first business update since the award-winning Grenadier began rolling off the production line.

The All-New Grenadier Quartermaster: INEOS Automotive’s second model line, a double cab pick-up with order books opening today for customers in the UK, Germany, Australia and the UAE. Order books will open on 1 August for all other markets, except for North America and Canada, where orders will start in 2024. With its extended long-wheelbase chassis, the Quartermaster can carry a Euro pallet, has a payload of 760kg, and class-leading off-road performance. It will be produced alongside the Station Wagon in Hambach, France.

Grenadier Quartermaster

The Grenadier Hydrogen Demonstrator: Based on a standard Grenadier platform, the R&D vehicle uses the BMW Group’s latest generation 400-volt fuel cell architecture and proves that the long-range zero emissions technology is ready for 4X4 vehicles.

Grenadier FCEV

Celebratory stunt: Emblematic of Britain’s rich motor racing heritage, Belstaff’s iconic Trialmaster jacket celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, just as Goodwood celebrates 75 years of motorsport. To mark both milestones, Belstaff and INEOS Automotive joined forces to gather 75 historic and modern off-road motorbikes to tackle the famous Festival of Speed hillclimb, led by seven-time motorcycle trials world outdoor champion, Dougie Lampkin. The cavalcade of bikes was spearheaded by the Grenadier Quartermaster, which was then used as the primary prop for Lampkin’s trademark motorcycle stunts in front of Goodwood House and packed grandstands.

“We’re a new company with a long-term vision,” said Lynn Calder, CEO of INEOS Automotive. “We’ve spent years listening to customers around the world telling us what they’re not getting from other manufacturers and we’re offering something unique right now that addresses that. In parallel, we are also excited for a future that includes zero emissions powertrain technologies. Our fully electric 4X4 arrives in 2026, and as we’re showing here at Goodwood, we’re exploring how hydrogen fuel cell tech can be part of the mix, too.”

Grenadier Quartermaster and the trials world outdoor champion, Dougie LampkinGooodwood Festival of Speed 2023

Production update

More than 5,000 Grenadiers have rolled out of the Hambach production facility, destined for customers in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. By the end of the year, it is anticipated that INEOS Automotive will have shipped over 15,000 vehicles. This will be achieved by adding a second shift at the plant from next month, doubling the production rate.

“We were a little later to customer deliveries than originally planned,” said Commercial Director George Ratcliffe. “The Grenadier is a completely new model line and we have been focused on making sure we get the quality, the processes, and the working patterns right. Now we are comfortable that we’ve optimised all of that, we are adding a second shift to ramp up production of the Station Wagon and to accommodate Quartermaster production, too.”

Initial customer interest has included a lot of off-road enthusiasts and sportspeople, ranging from the quite hardcore adventurers who are literally trekking across continents to people who tend to live in urban areas and need something that works as well on city streets during the week and off-road country pursuits at the weekend. The brand has also seen a strong uptake of accessories with a third of customers opting for a front winch which is more for agricultural use and another third including the tailgate table which suggests more leisure-focused pursuits.

A wide range of conversions have been seen due to the body-on-frame setup making it relatively easy to undertake specialist conversions: including a game viewer prototype in South Africa, a police vehicle in Spain and an ambulance in France. INEOS Automotive confirmed that a new Chassis Cab variant of the Grenadier would be available in 2024, specifically for body builders.

To find out more about Grenadier prices, technical specifications and options, visit www.ineosgrenadier.com.

– End –
