When asked: <em>\u201cWhich characteristics would you prioritise when buying a replacement tyre?\u201d<\/em> 37% of those who say they <em>\u2018love\u2019<\/em> or <em>\u2018like\u2019<\/em> driving cite <em>\u2018ride refinement and low noise\u2019<\/em>, compared to 33% who mention <em>\u2018high-performance grip\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, a larger proportion of enthusiast drivers would now favour <em>\u2018a smaller wheel with a larger-profile tyre that gives enhanced comfort&#8217;<\/em> (44%) over <em>\u2018a larger wheel and a low-profile tyre that looks great on the vehicle\u2019<\/em> (28%).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anicecommunication.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/07\/Ultrac-Pro_Vredestein.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21785\" src=\"https:\/\/www.anicecommunication.com\/it\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2024\/07\/Ultrac-Pro_Vredestein.jpg\" alt=\"Apollo_Tyres_Ultrac-Pro_Vredestein\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1125\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The findings highlight the importance of comfort to those who are most likely to purchase high-performance road tyres. This is at odds with the fact that these products traditionally provide comparatively low levels of ride refinement \u2013 a direct consequence of the more rigid structure and very stiff sidewalls that manufacturers use to maximise dynamic capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The Apollo Tyres survey also found that, among all motorists, the most important criteria when selecting replacement tyres is <em>\u2018price \/ affordability\u2019<\/em> (identified as a priority for 60%), followed by <em>\u2018year-round grip and traction\u2019<\/em> (47%), and <em>\u2018safety \u2013 short stopping distances\u2019<\/em> (45%).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Delivering the best of both worlds <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year Apollo Tyres\u2019 launched the all-new Vredestein Ultrac Pro, an ultra-ultra-high-performance (UUHP) summer tyre engineered to offer the best of both worlds: advanced handling capabilities coupled with superior driving comfort. The testers compared the Ultrac Pro with three UUHP tyres that are strongest in terms of performance capabilities, and a further three that lead on comfort. The flagship Vredestein tyre outperformed all but one of the performance-focused UUHP tyres in the \u2018Limit Handling&#8217; assessment (a difference of less than 1km\/h in entry and exit speed compared to the first-placed tyre), while also beating the more comfort-centric UUHP tyres in the overall \u2018Ride Comfort\u2019 tests.<\/p>\n<p>Yves Pouliquen, Group Head of Sales and Marketing at Apollo Tyres, comments: \u201cOur survey highlights that performance-car drivers seek greater versatility from their tyres. Many will commute in the same car that they take on track or use for a spirited weekend drive.
