Ambient lighting with 32 color options extends throughout the interior, including the dashboard, center console, and door trims, creating diverse atmospheres that can match the driving environment or the driver’s mood and preferences.

The cabin also offers a residential-like feel and generous storage that surpasses typical mid-size SUVs. Second-row reclining seats ensure comfort during long-distance travel, and when fully folded, the second row provides a spacious 1,662ℓ cargo area, ideal for outdoor activities such as camping and car camping.

Three interior color schemes are available: Gray two-tone, Black, and Brown. Premium natural leather seats combine ergonomic design with aesthetic appeal, delivering a soft touch and exceptional comfort.

An 8-way power driver’s seat with electric 2-way lumbar support reduces fatigue on long journeys, while ventilated front seats and heated seats in both the first and second rows provide a comfortable environment throughout all seasons.

■ Hybrid System & Performance

[Dual Tech Hybrid System]

The Torres Hybrid achieves a near-electric driving experience by pairing a newly developed 1.5-litre turbo gasoline hybrid-dedicated engine with the Dual Tech Hybrid System, which uses in-series dual motors.

This 1.5-litre turbo engine, specifically designed for hybrid applications, incorporates advanced fuel-saving technologies, including Miller-cycle operation and a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT). Advanced coatings on the cylinder block significantly improve durability, while fuel injection pressure has been raised from 250 bar to 350 bar, increasing output and reducing emissions.

The next-generation Dual Tech Hybrid System, developed by KGM based on BYD’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, positions a large-capacity 130kW motor close to the drive shaft, enabling strong acceleration with a maximum motor output of 177 horsepower and 300Nm of torque.

The e-DHT, a hybrid-specific dual-motor transmission, supports several driving modes, including EV mode, HEV mode (series-parallel), and Engine Drive mode. In urban driving, it operates up to 94% of the time in EV mode, offering a quiet and refined experience, while on highways, high-output drive motors with engine assistance ensure robust performance.

By reducing the number of components and integrating motors, controllers, and the transmission, e-DHT lowers overall weight and improves system efficiency. It adjusts fuel usage and power according to driver input, providing a versatile and responsive driving experience.

[Hybrid Battery System]

Another motor in the Torres Hybrid is dedicated entirely to parallel power generation with the engine, enhancing energy efficiency by charging a large-capacity 1.83kWh battery.

The 12V LFP low-voltage battery system, designed specifically for hybrids, minimises discharge during sleep mode, reduces weight by approximately 14kg compared to lead-acid batteries for improved fuel efficiency, delivers reliable low-temperature starting and consistent charge/discharge performance, and eliminates the need for jump-starting thanks to its built-in discharge protection.

As an authentic SUV, the Torres Hybrid delivers balanced performance across three driving modes—COMFORT for everyday efficiency and quietness, SPORT for a more dynamic driving experience, and ECO to maximize fuel economy.

Its regenerative braking system, adjustable in three levels, efficiently recovers energy and, when Smart Regenerative Braking is activated, automatically adapts braking intensity based on the distance to the vehicle ahead, ensuring convenient and efficient driving.

[NVH, Ride and Handling]

Thanks to its optimised NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) design, the Torres Hybrid delivers a quiet and comfortable driving experience, specifically engineered for hybrid models.

To enhance ride comfort, sound-absorbing and insulating materials have been reinforced in key noise transmission areas, including the engine compartment, engine cover, and wheel houses, reducing both road and engine noise.

Structural adhesives increase body rigidity at connection points, while the largest foam pad sound-absorbing materials in its class have been applied to the A, B, and C pillars to minimise resonance.
