The XPENG G9 MY26 SUV has set a new European record, reaching a peak power output of 453 kW at a 1,000-kW public charging station located in Varna, in the province of Bolzano/Bozen.
This milestone is not merely a numerical achievement but a tangible demonstration of technological excellence: the G9 MY26 is the only production vehicle available in Europe capable of reaching a theoretical peak charging rate of up to 525 kW.
The test was conducted by Paolo Mariano, a prominent EV expert and commentator.
Beyond the Peak: Stability Makes a Difference
The test results highlight, above all, the stability of power delivery. Beyond the instantaneous peak, the XPENG G9 MY26 impressed with its ability to maintain a constant and stable charging level over time. Unlike common “charging curves” that drop off rapidly as temperature or state of charge (SoC) increases, the XPENG G9 MY26 maintained a “straight line” for an extraordinarily long duration.
Once the plateau was reached, the system sustained a power output of 400 kW until a 34% state of charge, achieving an average power of over 347 kW throughout the entire 10-80% cycle. This allowed hundreds of kilometres of range to be recovered in just 12 minutes and 43 seconds—a time only surpassed in recent months by the 11’48” recorded in Norway under more favourable weather conditions. This makes electric refuelling extremely rapid even in challenging environmental conditions (between 0°C and 4°C). This is also due to the automatic battery pre-conditioning, which activates simply by setting a charging station in the navigation system: a vital feature for making the most of XPENG’s technology.
800V Technology and 5C Battery: The Heart of the Record
The secret to such performance lies in XPENG’s cutting-edge engineering:
- 800-Volt Architecture: a high-voltage system that reduces heat loss and maximises energy transfer efficiency.
- 5C-rated Cells: the new battery is designed to handle current flows five times its nominal capacity, ensuring not only rapid charging but also excellent thermal management that preserves battery health over the long term.
- Power and Range: equipped with a 94.6 kWh LFP battery (Long Range and AWD versions), the G9 MY26 does not only excel in ultra-fast charging; it offers a range of up to 585 km (Long Range version, WLTP), combining long-distance capability with incredibly fast turnaround times.

Gaining 100 km of range in three and a half minutes based on my consumption is truly exceptional!”

The public list price for the XPENG G6 and G9 MY26 starts from €42,690 and €61,990 respectively (VAT included, excluding on-the-road costs) for the RWD STANDARD RANGE versions.
The XPENG G6 and G9 MY26 come with a 5-year or 120,000 km vehicle warranty, 5 years of roadside assistance, and an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty on the traction battery. Spare parts are available within 24/48 hours thanks to the European central warehouse in Amsterdam and the national warehouse located in North-Central Italy.
