Update highlights XPENG’s software-defined vehicle approach, continuously improving cars on the road.

In parallel with continuous software updates, XPENG is developing its next-generation AI architecture, including the Vision-Language-Action system (VLA 2.0).

  • Optimized ACC and LCC for smoother daily driving
  • Faster infotainment response and improved smartphone connectivity
  • Expanded European app ecosystem and support for 10 in-vehicle languages

XPENG, a global technology company focused on physical AI and smart electric vehicles, today announces the public rollout of XOS 5.8.7, the latest over-the-air (OTA) software update for customers worldwide of G6 and G9. The update introduces a series of refinements to driving assistance and in-vehicle features. It also reflects XPENG’s dual-track innovation approach – continuously enhancing vehicles already on the road while advancing future technologies.

More Intuitive Driving Assistance

With XOS 5.8.7, key driver-assistance functions have been optimized to deliver smoother, more consistent performance in daily driving. Optimizations to Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Centering Control (LCC) reduce unnecessary deceleration, improve lane stability, and minimize minor steering corrections on straight roads.

With these enhancements, drivers experience ACC and LCC that respond more intuitively to traffic, keeping a safe distance and staying centered in the lane with minimal effort. Lane departure alerts are more timely and precise, giving drivers greater awareness and confidence on every journey.

Enhanced Smart Cockpit Experience

The update also brings enhancements to the smart cockpit experience, offering faster infotainment response and more stable Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for a smoother everyday experience.

In addition, greater system stability, together with faster OTA installation via Wi-Fi, further minimizes disruption during the update process.

Targeted app improvements are exclusively available to European drivers. The Disney+ app now delivers stable, uninterrupted playback, while Karafun’s mic-free karaoke has enhanced audio quality, creating a more immersive in-cabin entertainment experience.

XOS 5.8.7 now supports 10 European languages on the in-vehicle system, including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, and Dutch, making the vehicle more accessible to European drivers.

Continuous Improvement Through Software

XPENG vehicles are built on a software-defined architecture designed to continuously evolve over time. Through regular OTA updates, the company refines vehicle performance, improves intelligent driving systems and enhances the overall user experience based on real-world driving data and customer feedback.

Development of XOS 5.8.7 included extensive testing phases with user participation across multiple markets. Around 200 European users took part in external testing earlier this year, providing feedback across diverse driving environments.

OTA updates will continue throughout the year for XPENG G6, G9 and P7 vehicles already on the road, ensuring customers benefit from ongoing software innovation.

Building the Next Generation of AI Mobility

In parallel with continuous software updates, XPENG is developing its next-generation AI architecture, including the Vision-Language-Action system (VLA 2.0).

Future XPENG vehicle platforms will be designed to fully unlock the capabilities of this next-generation architecture, supporting more advanced intelligent driving capabilities as regulations evolve across global markets.

Together, ongoing OTA development and next-generation AI technologies reflect XPENG’s long-term approach to intelligent mobility: continuously improving vehicles already on the road while building the next generation of AI-powered mobility platforms.
